November 2009 Diabetic “Blacktop” in health trouble…
As you all know my Diabetic Kitty’s name is “Blacktop” He is now nine years old and has been on insulin for 3 years. The vet started him off with just one unit of insulin, but quickly worked his way up to 3 units twice a day (every 12 hours).
Everything was fine for a long while I thought. I came home early from work early one day to see “Blacktop” staggering and hitting the walls. He was in another world and completely confused. I thought he was going to die. I stayed up with him until the Vet opened and I brought him in.
Seems we were giving him too high of dose of insulin and his blood sugar was extremely low…thus the confusing imbalanced actions from him. I don’t know how long this had been going on while I was normally at work. Generally by the time I got home from work “Blacktop” had recovered from this situation.
Well the Vet lowered “Blacktops” dosage back down to one unit and he has been fine until the past couple of weeks. I started noticing Blacktop’s weight drop. I can tell just by picking him up when I give him his injection. Also his appetite was voracious. He constantly cried and begged for food. Sooooo to the Vet we go…….

Thanks a ton for taking a few minutes to line all of this out for us. This kind of posting was in fact very useful if you ask me.
