December 2009 “Blacktop’s” Weight Loss

As I posted in my last post after “Blacktop” started losing weight we made a trip to the Vet where he had several test.
Since we had dropped “Blacktop”s dosage back down to one unit from three units….now he was suffering from not enough insulin. Seems whatever he eats does not nourish him and he is constantly hungry….getting fed, but still losing weight. That is the same symptoms he had when I brought him in to the Vet originally and was diagnosed with Diabetes.
Luckily “Blacktop” had no other problems the test revealed.
So now the Vet directed me to increase his insulin dosage from one unit to two units. Poor “Blacktop” has to be regulated again on his dosage. Although it is a bit of a hassle, “Blacktop” will feel better in the long run and will be healthier.
So now he is back to two units of insulin for a couple of weeks and I can tell he is gaining his weight back again. I’ll need to purchase a new bottle of PZI Cat Insulin since his dose has doubled.
I’ll keep you all updated on “Blacktop”.
